school

We took Emma to the kindergarten open house today at Ross Corners Christian Academy, the school we're considering for the fall. We took Aedan to the preschool open house last week. Both classes were very impressive. They're small, about 10 kids in each one, and cheerful and up beat. The teachers both have really good control of the class. I'm amazed at the level of each class. I can't really remember, but I believe that I learned in first grade what these kids learn in kindergarten. Emma will, by the end of the year, be reading and writing and able to rattle of several longer passages of scripture. Aedan will learn 26 verses--one for each letter of the alphabet ("A: All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. B: Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved. etc.) And he will be able to write his name and read it, among other things.

Its going to massively change our lives. They'll have to be there at 8am every morning, which means leaving our house at 7:30, which means I will seriously have to get out of bed in the morning. Gasp.

Hi, This is so exciting! It seems only such a short time ago that Jackson and Emma were tiny babies and now they are both going off to school and their little brothers are following right behind them.
The school sounds perfect. Preschool and kindergarten teachers seem to have a wonderful gift for loving our little ones and making that first year such a good experience.

Will Emma and Aedan wear uniforms?

I'm taking Sydney to her checkup in a little bit so I had better close for now. Hope i can post this.

I wish they were wearing uniforms but unfortunately no. And the school dress code, I think, will make it impossible for them to look nice. Everyone, from what I can gather, boys and girls, have to wear collared polo shirts and docker like trousers. I'm going to ask why the girls have to dress the same as the boys. Apparently the girls are allowed to wear a kind of jumper but its very ugly. That is the top of my list for questions when we meet with the principle.

You see alot of that type of dress here. That is what the uniform for Jackson's school was although the polos were monogrammed with the school logo. I haven't seen the jumpers though. THey also wear shorts when it gets hot. Little pleated skirts in kahaki would be better...might suggest that!!
